Dr Frederiksen is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in managing hand conditions. This includes acute trauma of the hand and also more chronic presentions. He works closely with hand therapists in managing hand conditions, both nonoperatively and operatively. Dr Frederiksen may also utilise injections in the hand for treatment and diagnosis.

There are a number of conditions of the hand that he can treat including;

  • Fractures of the hand which may occur in the phalanges (small bones of the fingers) or the metacarpals (long bones in the hand)
  • Dislocations and ligament injuries including those of the thumb
  • Finger tip injuries and amputations – such as those caused by work or home accidents (e.g. car door)
  • Arthritis of the digits
  • Neuropathies including carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Dupuytren’s contracture – a genetic condition resulting in the thickening of the fibrous tissue layer underneath the skin of your palm and fingers.
  • Trigger digits
  • De Quervain’s disease
  • Soft tissue masses
